What’s some good types of businesses to open up?

My husband and I want to open our own business. We know it will be a lot of work but we are up for the challenge. What’s your suggestions on types of businesses to open? And no tanning salons suggestions please–there are too many around here. We live in South Mississippi.
Open to any and all types of businesses.

First of all, look at your hobbies and interests, you may find out that one of them can become a lucrative business for you.

Also do your homework, if you decide to do a franchise type business (or any business), look at the trends, what do have in your favor, to help make things go better.

Look for something that is a good fit for your situation. Some people become consultants or distributers for different companies (Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef…..) and do not do well because of the need to do parties and constantly meet new people. Find something that you are comfortable with doing.

Well, my husband and I decided to go with an on line travel agency. We found a really great company to do it with. It has the best commissions and compensation plan for the industry. The company we are with is publicly traded and a member of the BBB. We enjoy what we do, and it is not "hard work". Just handing out business cards and flyers to let people know about our site. I advertise on line. We also enjoy the perks of being a travel professional and the tax benefits of owning a home based business. It turned out to be a really good fit for us. I can give you some more info if you like. I do hope that you find what you are looking for.

At home childcare. I’m telling you someone I know pays $2000 a month for daycare to watch her two kids. We’re in CA though. There’s always someone looking for childcare.

Open a business that will love to do, that is the most important thing, above all.

Can I suggest you take a look at results.sitesell.com?

It will give you an idea of which business will fit you two!

    Good luck!

be careful. a resturant can be tricky because if you opened one, and everybody loves your food, you make good money. but then someone else can come along and set up an eating place right across the street. if they have good food, you may loose alot of customers.

if you like to do yard work, that could be a good choice. many people do not like to slave away in the heat and you could get paid good money for it. my aunt pays a guy to cut her grass every thursday for $60!

if you opened a yardwork business, you and your husband could work together. any children could also work for you if they wanted. if kids grow up around gardening and yardwork, they will most likely like to do it and if that is the case you could pass it on when you get older.

    good luck!
