can i install ‘home premium’, via upgrade disk, over existing ‘business edition’ vista? on my new dell desktop
i have an upgrade disk: Windows Vista Home Premium edition, and am looking to buy a new base unit which will have pre-installed Windows Vista Business Edition. would it be okay/possible, for me to run this upgrade disk on the new computer and then simply by clicking, (and waiting) install home premium over the top/discarding the business edition and replacing it wit the home edition?
i only ask because ordinarily i recognise this kind of behavior to be possible with ease, because that’ the whole point of an upgrade disk, but i am more recently aware that home premium is considered a downgrade from business edition, and so the key question is basically whether i will be able to downgrade or whether the existing/currently installed business edition will prevent fully any such downgrading installation i may attempt.
cheers folks
