What are some good small business or franchise ideas that require low start-up cost?

I have a full-time job, so I need something that allows me to work on it part-time or to hire a manager. If I am doing it part-time, then I would prefer for it to be home based? Any suggestions? No solicitations please.

dog walking, house siting, animal transporting moving company all you need is a few Buddy’s and a truck there is a lot of ways to make money in this world and the best place is still the Internet sell something buy old furniture paint it and sell it or refurnish it. every one still loves crap sell crap on eBay open up a studio every ones still have pipe dreams of making it rich in that filed and all you will need is few pieces of equipment and a out of the way room in your house you could make tons of money on that one alone.

There is apparently good money in street corner pharmaceutical sales. Of course the increased risk of death by murder and life in prison make it less attractive.

I have recently found a network marketing style business that seems ok. I have signed up yet but it has a high payout ratio. You sell a monthly subscription for medical, dental, prescription discounts. I think to join it’s like 50 bucks a month, but I don’t know how much the discount part cost. But you get 15 bucks a month per sign up. You really wont be selling insurance just like discounts, but they make sound like a great value. Either way you can find out alot about it if you google, AmeriplanUSA. They have a few videos that give you little insight. You can request additional info and talk to rep over the phone at 810-743-3811
or you can email for more info, at bhorton@ameriplan.net. I’ll save your question, will you let me know what you think.

Also if you have a little money to put up, like 2-3 thousand USD you can try to trade forex. This is acutally trading currency. I have a friend who makes a descent second income with only about 2 hours work a week. Theres a program called freedomrocks. They have a supposed fool proof system. I ahve heard good things about them. Check it out at there website. freedomrocks.com they have a good video presentation. I’ve heard that’s good to start with about 2 thousand dollars. Do a little research and see what you think. I have researched a lot of opportunities online and selling on ebay, and those two seem pretty solid.

My neighbor’s kid graduated from HS in 2003. Instead of going to college, he purchased the equipment to do carpet steam cleaning. It isn’t a franchise, and it only set him back about $10,000.
In just under 4 years, he has three crews doing residential, commercial, and other accounts a good 12 hours a day, six days a week. He’s doing very well. He is involved with only management now, but the first two years he also did all the cleaning.

I actually do exactly what you’re looking for it sounds like. But the rules here prevent me from saying much haha.

Hint: Find someone that’s doing what you want and contact them to learn more.

I must say I’m a little confused here. If you are considering a home business, and asking which ones are good, then in order to answer you, it would become a solicitation, which you do not want.
I am working a home business with a very low start up cost that can be done either full or part time. The company is very integral, the compensation plan is outstanding, and you are provided all the training and mentoring needed to help you achieve your goals.

Should you choose a franchise, you are essentially buying yourself a job. I looked into a few of them, and the one I was the most interested in required that I be there nearly all the time, a huge investment, I would have to hire only as many people as they allow, vacations would have to be booked in advance, just like any other job, and you can expect to be pretty much broke for the first 2 years. I just didn’t see the attraction to that when I can work from home, set my own hours and reach the $64k/yr mark in less than a year. I also decide who I work with and get paid in direct proportion to the amount of work I do.
That is why I chose to work at home over a franchise.
