What are some tips for a new start up Web Design Company?

We are a home based business with employees working on sales, clients, and all that jazz. WE are a marketing agency type of a business that creates websites, business plans and strategies for clients and their products, and we do movie posters for clients. We are expanding and I just would like any advice if you can give your input. We are looking more for ways to get our name out there and also what are some social networking sites that would be helpful? (We obviously know Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

Great! You could also start working on your own website now. Get some of your jobs done psted there and probably some testimonies from clients. Also you can do SEO.
If you have a css design team, you can showcase and upload your css files which will in tern increase your clientbase. There are other familiar sites for css and flash.

Sorry to be blunt, work on your "elevator pitch". Be able to pitch your idea and business to someone in an elevator. From just reading your description, you sound all over the place, and made me feel like holding my breath. You need to breathe in your writing, your sales pitch, and any kind of networking you do to make me like you and want to buy from you.
That being said, for a new firm it’s all about
1) networking
2) building a clientele and portfolio
1) involves getting the word out as much as possible in as many places as possible
2) involves doing perhaps just a few free sites to get some testimonials
You can combine 1) and 2) if you come up with a really good web site idea. Design it yourself from scratch. Learn some internet marketing skills to get it out in the open. Then let them come to you!
