What do I need to know before starting a home based clerical business?

I am a jack of all clerical skills but want to work from home.
I would like to offer virtual and freelance clerical. Rent a secretary kind of thing. I live in a small town within 30 – 60 minutes from larger cities that may need a secretary once in a while but not all the time. Freelancers, home based business people, or possibly professional people who need a personal assistant. How do I get started and what is the best way to market it?

The first thing you need to understand is that if you decide to obtain a "license" you become subject to the entire uniform commercial code as well as every chicken-sh!t code, statute, regulation and rule ever passed.
As a private Citizen you have every right to enter into contracts you deem appropriate including written and unwritten agreements to trade your labor for remuneration you deem fair.
You don’t need a "license" to conduct a business out of your home or from anywhere.
