My lazy friends have used every make it big at home scam and they still keep looking for the "I do no work job and make 1000 a week doing it"!
They have done!
Stuffing envelopes!3 times
Home based assembling for 4 different places!
Mystery shoppers!Still do this one just so they get to shop and go out to eat but they have to spend their own money then get a check for product of dinning!But it cost them gas money and no profit over what they spent!!
Ebay but they said that was to much work!

Absolutely SSI/SSDI–or any person with a disability–is a target.

A good post–I’d add that almost all legitimate work-at-home jobs DON’T come vie the Internet. People are usually hired through more conventional avenues–either directly by the employer, through employment agencies, etc.

Either that, or (as I have done sometimes) arrange to work at home at least part of the time.But the "get-rich-quick/home buiness" schemes are scams–pure and simple

I don't know if they think that those of us on ssdi are dumber than dirt or not, but I tried a while back (like in June) to find a good work at home thing where I would be doing data processing and usually I would find out that they were a scam. Luckily I was too smart to sink what little $ I had into them! But your advise is wonderful. Thank you for posting it.

I think there are a lot of scams that we should be aware of.
the thing is if it sound to good to be true then it most likely is a scam.

Also be aware of treatments that offer to quire your or your child disability. Another type of scam that goes around.

Do your research before you accept any thing like that

Yes, I do think scammers see people with disabilities as easy targets. But I also that like all people some people with disabilities are too naive and some too fearful.

I have tried to get people with disabilities involved with mystery shopping. Most won’t even give it a try. It is perfect because you work the hours and days you want. There are hundreds of legitimate companies to work for. As long as you don’t make more than $600 a year they don’t report to income to the IRS. (But legally you are supposed to.)

I know people who work for 5 or 6 different companies and can live on mystery shopping alone.

A great site to check out whether a company is legit or not is http://www.volition.com (and no I don’t work for them!)

Of course I happen to have a ‘hidden’ disability. And I lot of times I still have a hard time looking for work and keeping a job.
I long for a time when all disabilities and diseases are eliminated from the human genome once and for all.Everybody has the right to live a full life,right?

What you say is SO TRUE. It’s so very hard for people like myself who have issues to make a decent living with what we have. It’s like what somebody told me a while back: Disability don’t pay ****!
