Do home-based business do pretty well when it comes to money?

I am looking to start a home-based business. I am a pretty crafty person. I have skills in furniture restoration, homemade jewelry, sewing (everything from blankets to curtains to clothing), and much more. Will these types of items actually sell? Anybody have any other crafty ideas that I would be sure to sell? Do people make good money from home-based businesses? Thanks!
