Any ideas for home based business opportunities?

I am disabled and am looking for a legitimate home based business idea or something I could do at home to make a small income. There are so many scams out there.
Thanks to all for your answers. It seems that even though people say "this is not a scam" I have looked into all the answers. Some have not answered my e-mails yet, but so far they are answer lots of these surveys and sign up for lots of things(magazines, credit cards…) and we will send you 75 cents.

What are the top home based business ideas with minimum start up costs?

Has anyone been successful with starting a moderately successful home based business with little to no start up costs? How long have you had it? And is it worth the effort?

Several months ago I was wondering the same thing. I didn’t have much money and my friend told me about Two Sisters Gourmet. I didn’t really like to cook and I didn’t have much time, but I am so glad that I decided to join. Two Sisters Gourmet is a totally different company because we actually have an interactive pary experience, where the guests become cooks for the night. Friends and family get together, choose from one of our menus, and have an exciting party cooking and socializing together. My first party I made $125 in two hours. Things have been moving up ever since. Everyone wants to have a TSG party because the food is great and it sells itself, everyone loves to eat! The cost for the kit is $140 or $80 and for every show that you have you earn 5% in business credits so that you don’t eat up your profit buying more products, it’s more than enough to cover your expenses. It is definitely worth the effort, my self esteem and determination to do better each time have changed my life and outlook on a dead end job. My website is www.twosistersgourmet.net/web/jbariteau You will not find any negative information about Two Sisters Gourmet, just research it!

Join the girl scouts? Just Kidding you will need a health permit. A friend is a personal chef and needed to do the same.

What is the best home based business to start with little investment?

I’ve got two jobs, and want to start up a home based business. I’m thinking of an idea bank or teaching. But how can I make a mark? And what businesses are hot right now?

I’d recommend SiteSell as it comes with a Money Back Guarantee so check out their new blog: http://blogit.sitesell.com/wotsnext.html

Find the type of business on the link below that best describes what it is that YOU do (or want to do). Then see how to truly use the Net to make your specific business (or business idea) thrive. http://www.wotsnext.com

It works for me. As an example, take a look at how I use the SiteSell. Then see if you can fit something similar around your own area of expertise. Then all you need is a passion and some persistence. This page links you to all the resources I use. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/are-you-psychic.html

What is reasonable for a home based business to charge itself for rent?

I am 1 of the 2 partners in a home based business which currently is run out of my partner’s home. The business consumes space and also utilities. I am trying to come up with a fair rate for rent and a fair calculation for the use of utilities based on what is used for the business. Can someone suggest a guideline here?

I personally don’t feel that the company should be charge full fair market value for rent since I believe it’s a convenience to be able to work at home. Does anyone agree or am I way off here?

Although it is completely legal to use a home based office as a tax write off, be aware that it is one of the HUGEST RED FLAGS in a home based business. The IRS has very specific guidelines that need to be followed and unless you plan to follow your deductions to the T… don’t do it. Look for other things that don’t send up red flags!

Just word of advise given to me by our tax attorneys.
